The Gardens

My parents have nice established gardens.  They are truly amazing.  It makes for a tranquil and peaceful setting.

My dad's garden

My dad's vegetable garden is pristine.  The rows of veggies are perfectly lined in straight rows with plenty of room to walk between the lush green plants.  There's not a weed to be found.  And he doesn't even mulch because he doesn't have to.  While he sleeps at night, he can hear the errant weed break soil and try to grow.  The next morning, he plucks the intruder before it can even photosynthesize enough sun to start growing for real.

Some day when I retire, I'll keep up on my weeds like that.  Until then, I'll mulch the heck out of my garden beds.

The Black Boys

A few pics of my parents' boys.
Lucky
Lucky tore his ACL chasing after the evil soccer ball a few years ago.  These days, he's doing just fine!

Here's Bud.  Bud is all bark, with a snippy, sassy side of Don't-Change-My-Routine, people.  He probably deserves to be an old grumpy man, since he's diabetic and they didn't know for so long.  Poor guy felt like crud for years.  He loves my mom like no other.  They have their schedule down, and it works for all of them.  Bud is a very lucky pup.

Bud looking happy, despite having visitors

Bud very happy in one of his favorite spots.  He's usually on the cement behind the                                                       swing, but we've got company today....

Jessie One Week Ago

Here are a few pics of Jessie from Father's Day weekend, one week ago.  She had a great time.

Romance was in the air: Jessie & Lucky liked each other.
OK, actually Jessie really liked Lucky.  Jessie wanted to like Bud too, but he was a butt-head.  So she showered her affections upon Lucky.

"How' you doin'?" says Jessie...
We tried to "go swimming" for the dogs in the neighbor's pool.  That didn't work out so well.  Keystone loved it.  He jumped right in and couldn't be slowed down.  The little ones?  Not so much.  They've never been swimming before, so they didn't really get it (even with steps in the shallow end).  They were both very interested and wanted to want to get in, but couldn't get over their fear.   Or maybe it was just lack of understanding.  They don't get water hoses yet, either.

Todd did put Joey in on the steps, and he swam albeit a little clumsily across the pool to me, where I pulled him out.  He looked a little panicked.  But he ran right back up to the pool and wanted to want in again.  He just couldn't take that first step.

Here is Jessie at the pool...

Jessie was intrigued, but did not get in--we need a creek!

Keystone In OK

My boy, sportin' his namesake
This is my favorite picture from last weekend of Keystone.  He's such a handsome and happy boy.  In this picture, he actually looks younger, but these days he's getting very grey.  And that's OK.  I love grey.

Grandpups Are For Loving

Today's pics of father's day weekend are all about loving Joey.  Who wouldn't love this adorable boy?

Dad's Day

Thought I'd post a pic-a-day of my awesome weekend last weekend until Mrs. Irritation is here IN LESS THAN ONE WEEK!  I'm so excited that her and her beautiful daughter get to come visit.  And I'm excited to finally meet Mouse, too!

Anyway, since I can't get a post together from last weekend of *everything* I want to show you, I thought I'd drag it out, one picture at a time.  You're welcome.

Todd has been on a mission for a number of years.  He's been searching for a HUGE sign like this for my dad.  He found it a few weeks before father's day.  How perfect.  Thank you, Craigs List.  This sign is indoor/outdoor and lights up.  How cool is this?!?  I think both my dad and my mom really like it.

My Piggies

I finally found a decent place to get a pedicure.  She took a lot the dead skin off, and it wasn't just a quick courtesy scrub with a brush and done in 2 minutes kind of experience.  I think this lady spent an hour on my feet.  It helped that they were slow and I was the last one there.

I splurged and tried gel polish.  It's SO AMAZING!  It dries with UV light in just a few minutes.  I had shoes to put back on and I didn't want to wait even longer for polish to dry.  This stuff is tough as nails and extra slick and shiny.  They really outdid themselves creating this stuff.  I love it.  And she put like 5 coats on.

I don't know what it's going to take to get this stuff off, we'll see next month.  I predict that it grows out before it wears out.
